Chaa Da Cup - Please! No.50 - Jeera Chawl

Chaa Da Cup - Please!

Chaa Da Cup - Please! is a food blog created for all food lovers

(n.b - mostly chai loving lovers).

The various mixtures of ingredients and recipes complement a hearty Chaa Da Cup! - you'll probably be looking (asking) for one ;)

This is my version of home cooked Punjabi-Kenyan heartiness.

No.50 – Jeera Chawl

4 different ingredients - 30min to prepare - serves over 5 people

Ingredients:

1 cup - plain white rice.

2 cups - water.

1 tsp (flat) - jeera (cumin seeds).

1 tsp (flat) - salt.

Method:

In a large bowl pre soak 1 cup of plain white rice for 15 min, after which wash the rice and set it aside.

In a large pan add some cooking oil, add 1 tsp (flat) of jeera (cumin seeds) and salt, allow all the ingredients to warm up. To the pan, add 2 cups of water (the ratio of rice to water is 1:2, respectively) and let the water come to a boil. Add the rice into the water, and let it all come to another boil.

At this point, turn down the heat to the lowest setting and place a lid over the pan, let the rice cook completely for the next 10-15min.

Using a fork separate the rice in the pan whilst checking if there is any water remaining, if there is any water close the lid and let the rice cook for another 5 min, if there isn't any water and your rice is soft and fluffy you are finally ready to serve it with a steaming hot Chaa da Cup - Please!
