Chaa Da Cup - Please!

Chaa Da Cup - Please! is a food blog created for all food lovers

(n.b - mostly chai loving lovers).

The various mixtures of ingredients and recipes complement a hearty Chaa Da Cup! - you'll probably be looking (asking) for one ;)

This is my version of home cooked Punjabi-Kenyan heartiness.

No.49 – Trio of Pronte - Plain+Mitte (Sugar)+Laal Mirch (Red Chilli)

6 different ingredients - 30min to prepare - serves over 5 people

Ingredients:

1 bowl - plain flour.

250ml - water.

1 tsp - salt.

1 tsp - sugar.

1 tsp - red chilli powder.

1 bowl - ghee.

Method:

Making the Dough:

In a large bowl add 1 small-medium sized bowl of plain flour and knead it with water (as required) to create a soft dough. Once you've made the dough set it aside for a few minutes (about 10-15min), and then make palm sized balls out of the dough.

Making Plain Pronte:

Using a belna/rolling pin, roll out any one of the dough balls into a large circle. Spread a tsp of ghee onto the large circle. Create a long train by rolling the pronta into a rollie pollie and coil the train into a medium sized circle. Roll the coil. out flat into a large circle.

Once rolled out, place it on a hot tava/griddle and both sides of the pronto cook. Once you flip one side over spread a tsp of ghee onto each side and allow each side to cook evenly until they turn golden brown and crsipy.

Making the Mitte Pronte (Sugary Pronte):

Using a belna/rolling pin, roll out any one of the dough balls into a large circle. Spread a tsp of ghee and a tsp of sugar onto the large circle.

Making the Laal Mirch Pronte (Chilli Pronte):

Using a belna/rolling pin, roll out any one of the dough balls into a large circle. Spread a tsp of ghee, a tsp of salt and red chilli powder onto the large circle.
